The brain has a dual cortex, left and right. Each has a projection called the left and right temporal lobes respectively. The later is associated with retaining voice-intoned (singing) memories, familiar incidents, and analysis of non-verbal data. The former takes care of listed information, recognizes monotone language, and analyses verbal terminologies. In case a portion of the brain is lagging, recalling memories linked to that part of the brain is also going to dawdle.
There are signs that you can identify to figure out what type of memory loss your are experiencing such as:
Pay close attention to the kind of information that is eluding you. If it is something related to your daily course of life, like your marriage anniversary, or where you kept your watch, then it is high time you saw a doctor.
If your friends and families begin to notice you are having problems remembering this is a good indicator of short term memory loss. It also happens when you can’t recall an answer to a question already answered a short while ago.
If you begin finding your day to day belongings in odd places then you could be experiencing memory loss.
If you realize your having problems with your memory you should talk to a doctor immediately. It is much easier to cure or recover from memory loss when you find out in its early stages. Talk to your doctor.
There are home remedies you can do to improve your memory or stimulate the brain such as smelling peppermint. Research confirms that smelling peppermint stimulates the temporal lobes of the brain. Also doing puzzles, mazes, and reading can keep the brain stimulated and active.

There are a lot of weight loss products that offer that fast weight loss results, however, are these really guaranteed? Could these products live up to their assurance of a fit body?

/>

In US, there is an estimated 50 million people who try to lose weigh, unfortunately, only 5 per cent are successful. One thing’s for sure, beware of fraudulent claims and extreme high cost because there is no magic to losing weight.

Samples of weight loss products in the market nowadays:

Diet Patch – this was already removed since 1990’s by FDA since they were proven ineffective.
Magnetic Diet Pills – allegedly flushes out fat, but not.
Guar Gum – causes internal obstruction.
Electrical Muscle Stimulators – no proven effect.
Eyeglasses that Suppress Appetite – These claims that the projected image on the retina decreases appetite. No proven fact.
Weight loss earrings – through acupuncture, suppresses appetite.

There are also examples of weight loss products:

Diet drinks that are mixed with beverages or food are used as meal substitutes. A downside of this is that once a person stopped taking the drinks, they would eventually regain the lost weight after a short period of time due to feeling of emptiness in the stomach. Another is diet supplements and medicines that also don’t work long-term. Over-the-counter pills that compose of phenylpropanolamine hydrochloride may raise blood pressure and palpitation. Ephedra on the other hand can cause serious side effects such as heart problems, seizure, stroke, and even death. E.g.:

Herbalife Nutritional Program – good as two meals, dieters may rely on shakes and follow artificial dieting methods and just don’t want food to work into their lives.

Mega-Thin 100 Formula – Its formula contains an anti-fat weapon, however, diet is not emphasized that’s why it’s concluded that it has an appetite suppressant.

Nestlé’s Sweet Success – recommended to take three times a day and it does not promote healthy eating habits. Weight loss is difficult to maintain once intake is stopped.

Ultra Slim Fast – this plan requires regular exercise but does not teach good eating habits.

Diet pills with Ephedra and PPA – many of these have enclosed diet plans. Slimming can come from the diet plan and not the pill intake and there are risks of adverse side effects.

Chitosan products – contains fibers which were taken from shellfish that may cause diarrhea, bloatedness, and gas. This will only work if a low fat diet is practiced.

Chromium Supplements –claim that products will lower blood sugar, body fat and cholesterol but causes anemia and even memory loss. Studies show only minimal or no beneficial effect at all.

Green Tea Extract Products – known as strong anti-oxidants that help lower cholesterol and triglycerides, and promote weight loss, however, the caffeine content could cause insomnia and restlessness.

Algae Tablets – Spirulina contains significant nutrients that can be an acceptable food when used as part of a varied diet but are very expensive.

St. John’s Wort Supplement – Claims that it will suppress appetite and promote weight loss but it could lead to gastrointestinal discomfort, tiredness, sleeplessness, and arouse allergic reactions.

Glucomannan Products – claim that two capsules before each meal decrease food absorption. Known as food thickeners but not yet proven safe or effective. Weight loss will only happen if good diet plan is followed.

Even if you plan on using over-the-counter weight supplements or even participate in a weight loss activity, the verdict is that you still have to eat fewer calories than you burn to lose weight. When choosing a weight loss product or program, collect as much information as possible.

Your memory is very important to you, and when considering this, there is nothing that we normally do to ensure that our memory capacity is at their highest capacity. Conducting a memory loss test is quite crucial when you see the signs that your memory is not what it used to be. There are many factors that can contribute to a loss of memory, and this includes things like stress, disease as well as aging. These three factors should always be at the top of your mind when you are considering to do a memory test. If you are experiencing short term memory loss or cannot seem to remember things which you usually remember, then it is time to take a memory loss test.

/>

There are plenty of neurological tests, visual, auditory and verbal tests that are available online and in some clinics that will be able to give you the sort of memory tests that you need. Now, when you are taking these tests, you need to understand a few things.

These include that the tests are designed to test for general failures within memory and are not the sorts of things that you will help to diagnose why. Now, there is a science as well to taking a memory test and you should not jump on the bandwagon just because you forget a few things. Once you observe a pattern, then you should be alarmed and take a test. Usually, one of the best times to take a test is when you are already advancing in your years – and this means when you are flying out of your 20’s into your early and maybe mid twenties. When this happens, usually, the neurological functions in the brain start to degenerate and do not worry, this is quite natural and happens to all of us. Generally the neurons in the brain; which number in the billions will find their cell structure slowly dying and this is due to age that affects the brain as well.

Once the cells die, the normal communication traffic; which also includes the memory, will be hampered and you might suffer from short term memory loss. When this happens, then you can gauge how much of your memory is affected by the use of these simple tests.

The good thing about these tests is that they are able to give you a general idea on how much of your memory is affected. The thing is, memory loss affects quite a large number of people, sometimes during ages which can be alarmingly early, so you need to look into your genetic history and your family history as well. Look at the sort of job you are working at, and sometimes, it is also pertinent to have a look at the sort of diet you are taking. All of these will be able to gauge the causes of your memory loss and plug the holes as you see them, so be sure to be extra vigilant in recognising them and taking the required steps to overcome them.

Have you ever been in the middle of a thought when, all of a sudden, you can’t remember what you were thinking about anymore? If so, rest assured that you’re not alone. Just about everyone has experienced memory loss or loss of focus at some point or another.

/>

It’s easy, after all, to get sidetracked by so much stimulation around us on a daily basis! Researchers believe that we are exposed to at least 1,000 advertisements each day – that’s enough stimulation to distract anyone.

In addition to over stimulation by media, such as the telephone, email, TV, or video games, there are some proven elements that cause people to lose their train of thought, including the following:

1) Hypertension – Chances are good that if you have hypertension and high blood pressure, you will be more likely to have mental deterioration.

2) Diabetes – Like hypertension, Diabetes can play a huge role in lowering cognitive function, especially amongst older women.

3) Low serum folate – Low levels of serum folate have been shown to lead to the atrophy of the cerebral cortex – the part of the brain in which we process thoughts and memories.

4) Vitamin B12 deficiency – If you are not getting enough B12 in your daily diet, your memory may very well take a hit. Other nutrient deficiencies can lead to additional brain function loss. For example, a lack of folic acid or omega 3 fatty acids may lead to an increased chance of dementia.

5) Toxicities – There are many toxicities that can lead to decreased brain function as well, including exposure to heavy metals, narcotics, and aluminum.

6) Menopause – Yes, it’s true, women. You may experience decreased memory function and concentration during menopause.

If you experience memory loss or are constantly losing your train of thought, there are some things you can do that may help improve the situation. Exercising multiple times a week for at least half an hour can reduce your risk of memory loss. Every one mile that a woman walks per week can decrease her risk of memory loss by as much as 13%. Also, take up a new language. Research indicates that individuals with low linguistic ability may be more likely to experience memory loss than those with high linguistic ability.

Remember: everyone experiences a certain degree of memory loss at some point in time. Simply losing your train of thought once in a while should not be a concern, but it could be an indicator that you need to evaluate your life habits and perhaps seek the advice of a professional to determine the correct course of action.
