Understanding the Real Pain of Psoriasis in Kids

Psoriasis in KidsHow do we feel when we see Psoriasis in Kids? Do we judge them? Do we criticize and look at them in a different way? Have you tried knowing their feelings and not just the pain of having an external ugly appearance that almost destroyed their lives? Adults who have this skin disease could endure more fervently and patiently, the mocking look and prejudice that the world could give them. It is a different story with children, who are very innocent and not aware on how to deal with the ill feelings being developed against them and not with Psoriasis alone.

You do not have to experience the same thing just to understand them better. You do not need to ask them their thoughts, feelings, and fears about it. Of course, they are affected by it psychologically, coupled with the teasing and unlikely comments that they could hear from those people who are not aware of their situation, causing emotional stress. As I was trying to make a thorough research on how to make their healing fast, I came to understand that the treatment that they need could not be bought with a price, since it is priceless. The dilemma of psoriasis in kids is not seen physically but it is roughly influencing their self-esteem, which gradually drives them down to hopelessness.

The Right Treatment for Psoriasis in Kids

We could have the best of doctors, medicines, and hospital in the world but if this is not coupled with love, patience, and understanding these kids who are diagnosed with this disease will not be able to move on and carry on this burden. They will never be able to understand why they got this kind of disease and why them. There would be anger, hatred, embarrassment, and other ugly feelings. This is normal reaction that you can get from them.

We have to understand as adults that they are in the socialization stage where they are active and would like to participate or play around with their same age group. It is harder for them to cope up when people start looking at them and asking why he or she has those kinds of spots. This is the best time that parents of these kids should stay with them, comfort them, and explain to them in a positive manner that hatred should not be developed. Children should understand that psoriasis in kids should be accepted more of a challenge and not as weakness.

As an adult, keep your kids’ clothes clean from the rooms down to the linen and beddings. Avoid scented products because it would cause irritation and soreness. Regular bathing is important to make each child comfortable and to avoid any kinds of itchiness. Have a regular visit with your trusted dermatologist that has the expertise in this kind of disease. Know which food is best served for them because there are certain food selections that you have to avoid that could trigger certain effects like pain and inflammation on the kids’ skin.

Those are just physical remedies that you can give. Nonetheless, psoriasis in kids are best healed when they know and understand that they are different and unique, apart from the rest, but they are special and precious to anyone who loves them.
